Studying: BSc International Business
- I speak: English, Spanish, Catalan, French
My name is Gema and I am native from Spain. I am in my second year of BSc International Business and I can only say that I love it. I chose Leeds because of its high ranking position for business studies as well as the whole university. And so far, the experience has been really enriching. The teaching quality is of very high standard and professors and tutors are easily approachable.
The University of Leeds has so much to offer… I have joined different societies and I enjoy going to some performances some societies do in the Union. This year I was involved even more and I performed in a dancing show. Every day there is something different going there so it is really exciting having such variety. Besides, the libraries are really comfortable and they have a huge collection of all kind of books. There has been a huge investment in both the union and the Edward Boyle Library now is just the best place to excel in your studies.
I love the city because it is quite cosmopolitan: there is a new John Lewis in the city centre; restaurants of every nationality; bars and cafes, my favourite one ever is Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen; and a vibrant night-life. I find the business quarter really exciting too, where all the big companies are located: I like this as I am a business student. Furthermore, I find a great pleasure in walking around the city and discovering new places.
Last year I lived in a university hall off-campus. I love it because I have met so many friends here, all studying different subjects and from different nationalities. I think is the best way of getting to know people in the first place. This year, I moved to a private house in Hyde Park, a student accommodation area.
