Studying: BSc Economics and Finance
- I speak: English, German, Bulgaria
I am Silviya and I am studying Economics and Finance. I chose the University of Leeds for its achievements and flexibility within modules in my course. The relationship between student and teacher is very close which gives any student an opportunity for personal guidance and support throughout the academic life.
The single campus university is pretty attractive and has so much to offer to the students. All of the libraries are unique themselves and have something to inspire any taste. But I guess when it comes to satisfaction and comfort, the 24 hour clusters gives me the freedom to study whenever I like.
I cannot deny my favourite place is the Leeds University Union. Whether it is for a mainstream Fruity night or a chilled out study time with a cake in Hidden Café, it is there for me. There are lots of societies as well, name it, there shall be one. I joined so many in my first year that I lost the count. Now I have narrowed it down and am part of the Trading and Investments committee and take the rest of the time to shake it off with Freestyle Dance.
I currently live in a privately rented flat in the city centre which gives me the independence I want and it’s just ten minutes away from campus. I am a huge fan of the city centre. The town is great for shopping and almost everywhere in Leeds there is a student discount. I adore spending my lazy Sunday afternoons just walking around Victoria Quarter or sit down in one of the coffee shops and enjoy a nice latte with a book in my hands.
Located in the centre of the UK, with excellent transport links, Leeds is a great base from which to explore UK and Europe. I have been to lots of fantastic day trips with the Global Community in Leeds University and met so many new friends for life.
